Organization Name

The organization name used in RWW (and other places) can be changed in the registry by editing the RegisteredOrganization key in HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion

The organization name is also used during initial setup to create a distribution list for your company. If your organization name was "Mundy Server Support", a Universal Distribution Group would be created in "MyBusiness\Distribution Groups" called MundyServerSupport

Exchange 200x does not support the following characters either in organization names or in administrative group names (source):

  • comma (,)
  • period (.)
  • tilde (~)
  • grave accent (`)
  • exclamation point (!)
  • at sign (@)
  • number sign (#)
  • dollar sign ($)
  • percent (%)
  • caret (^)
  • ampersand (&)
  • asterisk (*)
  • parentheses (())
  • underscore (_)
  • plus sign (+)
  • equal sign (=)
  • braces ({})
  • brackets ([])
  • backslash (\)
  • colon (:)
  • semicolon (;)
  • quotation marks (")
  • single quotation marks (')
  • angle brackets (< >)
  • question mark (?)
  • slash mark (/)
