• Nmap Network security scanner - download the installer that includes Zenmap, the GUI for Windows
• SuperScan is a simpler network scanner that doesn't require installation. Note that the default TCP scan type, SYN, doesn't work on Vista - change it to "Connect". Also a good idea to turn off "Host discovery" so that it will scan even if the remote host doesn't respond to a PING request.
