Create a Test Site

Create a subdomain and corresponding directory. Install JoomlaPack to take a full backup, and restore to the subdomain's directory. Make sure during the restore that you point it to the new database that you have created for the test site (using the cpanel most probably).

Make sure you password protect the test site so that it's not crawled by search engines.

JCE Editor

I found that I had to turn off template CSS, and create a custom CSS file with only the templates I need to see in the editor. I copied these from my template_css.css to a file called editor_content.css and then in JCE configuration turned off Template CSS, and pointed the Custom CSS File to this new file.
